Our Work

Our Mission

The mission of the Milford Prevention Council is to reduce underage drinking and substance abuse through prevention education, the support of law enforcement and the strengthening of our community collaboration.

Initiatives

Survey of Secondary Students

-Collect information about student use, habits, activities and attitudes

Social Norms Campaign

-Correct student and parent misperceptions about youth substance use and other risky behaviors, thereby reducing pressure to conform to “false” Norms

Parents Who Host Campaign

-Educate parents on the laws and consequences of underage drinking under parental oversight

Implementation of School based substance abuse prevention programs

-An educational opportunity for parents and students to learn in a personal and productive manner

Increase community awareness through public forums and other community events

-Youth and parent forums

-Advocacy and collaboration with community organizations

Addressing Environmental Factors Leading to Risky Behaviors

-Reduce underage access to alcohol at home and in the community

-Strengthen youth participation in available after school activities
